Koolhass & Piano

Both at Londons Architectural Bienniale this year and both worth seeing.

Renzo Piano gives a ‘sermon’ in Southwark Cathedral on the 16th June, Tickets required. the damage being £12 as a student.

The London Architecture Biennale talk -by Zaha Hadid -was Britain's biggest architecture lecture ever. This year, Pritzker prize-winning architect Rem Koolhaas takes the stage. At the moment tickets look to cost £15 for this talk held on the 23rd of june.

not content with giving the Big Biennale Talk Koolhass will find himself racing at seven thirty from this little affair.

Fascinated by the energy of Lagos, one of the fastest growing cities on the African continent, architect Koolhaas and a team of students set out to learn from its structure and evolution. Netherlands 2002 Dir. Bregtje van der Haak, 55 min. In Nigerian, Dutch & Eng with Eng subtitles.

I can only imagine the man in black darting about the Barbican like a seasoned pro, dropping a box of chocolaits in a window as he scales the appropriate wall.

It promices to be an interesting summer.

This is a Hyperthetical Brief_

The aims of this project are for all to understand and feel part of the community in which they inhabit, without dislodging the existing use and hopefully improving the way that existing goings on are played out.

The main improment of the site will be through the access to the site which currently involves an out the way road that must be intentionally travelled down. The reason for most travel is for the 'boot sale' that takes place within.

A design feature will be to bring the market to the outside by the canal giving full view of the goings on to attract more custom and interest. the second is to bring the publi accross the canal in a more fluid and unintentional format. this will be acumplished through the use of a shelter/bridge that moves accross the front of the structure.

The promanade created by this new bridge will flow above the canal and be ajasent to a collection of pan-national cuisine which represents the ethnic backgrounds of the local comunity (including British).

the Sports facility is overlooked by this Gastro expanse and interwind with the market trade by outdoor persuits that lead towad the other main attraction of the olympic pool.

the Pool again moves to interact with the environment by appearing to merge with the canal.

All these items must be represented in a visual form.
